More than 90% of teachers have a better work-life balance due to online classes
A study conducted by tech company Hewlett-Packard (HP) has found that the Covid-19 pandemic helped teachers to manage their life more effectively. The study found that 92 per cent of the teachers now have a better work-life balance due to online classes.
Reportedly, teachers prefer personal computers over small devices to teach students. Most teachers prefer if students use a personal computer rather than a tablet or a smartphone for online classes. According to the teachers, they want students to use personal computers due to various reasons. 87 per cent of teachers said this would help reduce eye strain. 81 per cent said personal computers make it easier to refer to multiple files while learning.
The study was released by HP on Thursday. The study was based on a survey of around 1,600 respondents. The respondents included 207 teachers from public and private schools, aged between 28 and 50 years. The study also included responses from 711 students aged 14–22 years, including those in higher education institutions; and 679 parents aged between 30 and 60 years.
The survey was conducted in 13 cities including the national capital Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Lucknow, Chandigarh, Patna, Guwahati, Indore, Ranchi and Kochi.
90 per cent of the teachers surveyed said online learning helps them save on commuting time. Before the pandemic, teachers had to wake up early to go to education institutes. Now, they have that spare time to do other things. A total of 89 per cent of teachers said that online learning helps clear students’ doubts on a more convenient and flexible schedule.
