Many countries in the world receive migrants and give them lawful permanent resident status. Today, we present to you the list of 10 countries that take the most migrants. Let’s know more about these countries.

Germany

Germany takes the most migrants. Reportedly, over one-quarter of people currently living in Germany are either foreign-born or have at least one immigrant parent. It received 1,383,580 new migrants into the country in 2018.

United States

In 2020, the United States granted 707,362 people lawful permanent resident status. People often come to the United States for better pay and a good lifestyle. In 2018, it received 1,096,611 migrants.

Spain

A total of 4,202 migrants entered Spain since the start of 2022. It received 559,998 migrants into the country in 2018. The majority of applications came from Latin American countries, including Venezuela, Colombia, and Honduras.

Japan

Foreign residents in Japan have increased over the past few years. In 2018, Japan received 115 000 new immigrants on a long-term or permanent basis. It also received 10,493 applications seeking asylum in 2018.

South Korea

South Korea is popular among foreigners. Many people come to South Korea because it is friendly to foreign visitors. According to the OECD data,  South Korea received 495,079 migrants in 2018. It also received 16,147 applications for asylum in 2018.

The United Kingdom

In 2021, almost 150,000 skilled workers visas were issued for foreigners by the UK. It received 486,452 migrants into the country in 2018. The place is famous in English speaking countries.

Turkey

Turkey hosts one of the largest Syrian refugee populations in the world. In 2020, there were some 3.64 million Syrians under Temporary Protection (TP). It received 466,890 migrants in 2018.

Chile

Nearly 11,379 people have entered Chile irregularly so far in 2022. Many people come to Chile from Venezuela. It received 339,350 new migrants in 2018.

Canada

Nearly 35,000 immigrants have entered Canada irregularly so far in 2022. The government aims to add more residents this year. It has also recorded an increase in the number of asylum applications received.

Italy

More than 6000 immigrants have entered Italy so far. Almost 100 asylum-seekers were evacuated from Libya to Italy in 2022. It received 285,500 permanent immigrants in 2018.
