Global hiring specialists, Remote, has conducted the 2022 European Life-Work Index to reveal the top countries for work-life balance. Luxembourg

Luxembourg is the best European country for work-life balance in 2022. It ranks first on Remote’s work-life balance index. The country provides statutory annual leave (37 days) to employees. The companies in Luxembourg also provide paid statutory maternity leave to pregnant employees. Luxembourg also has a 99 per cent literacy rate.

Spain

Spain is the second-best European country for work-life balance in 2022. Spain is also conducting a trial of a four-day workweek. The Spanish government has agreed to a 32-hour workweek for three years, without cutting workers’ compensation. Spain also provides a significant minimum wage to employees.

Norway

Norway is one of the best European countries for work-life balance. In fact, the capital of Norway, Oslo, is the best city in the world for work-life balance. Employees spend an average of 42.9 hours per week at work in Norway.

Germany

Germany provides employees with 30 days of paid statutory annual leave and 14 weeks of paid statutory maternity leave. Stuttgart and Munich are the best cities in Germany for work-life balance. Munich also has very low unemployment.

France

France is the fifth-best European country for work-life balance. France provides employees with a statutory annual leave allowance of 36 days. Workers don’t need to respond to emails outside of working hours. France also provides a high minimum wage to employees.
