Singapore-EC Builders is a company of Construction, they are fined $170,000 because of their big fault which caused serious injury to a worker. The worker suffered an accident in 2019. And the Ministry of Manpower announced this fine on Wednesday 4th January. 

The Ministry of Manpower said On December 9 the company was blamed on the Workplace Safety and Health Act. 

The Ministry of Manpower said that the incident is on 2019, Aug 1st . A worker of EC Builders Ali Mohammad Sohag was working after the instruction of the supervisor to inspect the lifelines. They also told him to tighten the lifelines. During his work, he walked on top of steel bars, and it was placed like a formwork. And these steel bars were not attached to the lifelines, so she slipped and fell from a height of 12 meters. Then rapidly he was sent to the Changi General Hospital. The reports from the hospital made it clear that it was a significant brain injury.

The probe by the Ministry of Manpower stated that EC builders failed to ensure that worker Ali Mohd Sohag had training and instructions to install the lifeline. The EC builders also failed to minimize the death during the time of installation of lifelines. Additionally, the investigation says that the EC builders also lacked in monitoring the worker during the process of work. That was the reason for this mishappening. 

The ministry also said that providing a safe work environment is the task of the company, and co-workers should look for themselves during the work process.

The CAN also report that EC Builders Pte Ltd. lacks security and creates many tough situations for workers.
