TCS Bonus Cut 2026: Why Senior Employees With 7–10 Years of Experience Could Lose Quarterly Pay

(C): X

Have a couple of years of experience at India’s largest IT organisation? Double-check your payslip. Tata Consultancy Services has reportedly announced it will withhold the quarterly variable allowance from its employees in the C3A grade, who generally have 7-10 years of experience. Why: The company’s internal profit goals were not met in the quarter. Junior staff members receive a 100% commission.

Quick Facts

  • Affected: C3A grade and above (approx. 7 – 10 years of experience up to senior management)
  • Payout: zero TCS quarterly bonus this quarter for this group
  • Not affected: junior employees receive 100% of the variable pay that they would have received otherwise.
  • What: the project is not on track to meet the expectations from within.
  • It stands out because it is the first time that some employees have been told that they will have no pay-out, at least for two years.

How the Payout Differs by Grade

Why Are Senior Employees Hit?

No, compensation is not tied to individual performance, but rather to the performance of the company. Even as TCS missed its revenue forecasts by a small margin, the revenue growth reported by the IT giant was the worst recorded by the company in the past three years. Demand for traditional IT services continues to be under pressure.

There’s a silver lining, though. AI revenue growth was almost 20%, and the stock increased by up to 6.2% after the release. So the business is changing, but the traditional services engine is slow, and the TCS bonus cut is being applied to the grades on which the pay is more variable.

What It Means for Your Take-Home Salary

Quarterly variable pay is a component of your TCS salary design, so when it’s gone, it definitely takes its toll on your final paycheck and total compensation for the year. This change does not affect anyone who gets a fixed salary, but if you’re planning for the quarterly pay, such as EMIs or investments, you should adjust your plans accordingly.

This is also a sign of a broader IT industry slashing of salaries and a move toward restricting variable compensation, as company performance has a major impact on the performance-based pay of IT workers.

What Happens Next

It will only be in effect for this term. The returns of the payouts will depend on the performance of TCS in the next few quarters. Observe the following results and HR communication. In the meantime, maintain your performance levels and do a budget review.
