For many of Innodata’s employees, a typical Monday at the company’s hundreds of offices across India meant no work at all. The Innodata layoffs came as a shock, with employees’ access to the system cut off within hours and termination letters sent to their personal inboxes. In addition to the anger of having lost their jobs, many are now asking what they can do to recover their payslips and settlement records.

What Happened in the Innodata Layoffs 2026 Round

Business continued as normal. Staff signed in and signed off, and at midday there were rumours of staff members being let go from Innodata. Official IDs were shortly after compromised, and access to the company systems was lost. Emails to terminate were received on personal email addresses, claiming it was due to “operational requirements.

They set up WhatsApp groups and information was shared in real time as to who else might be impacted. By night, the number of members was nearly 500, and many were apprehensive and uncertain of their membership.

Why Missing Payslips and Final Settlement Records Matter

The inability to download salary slips to record former employees’ salary history in their records is a document required for loan applications, visa processing, tax filing and verification by a new employer, and being locked out of the HR portal means that employees can’t obtain them. When there are no payroll records, it is hard to establish a history of income.

The termination letters also introduce an element of uncertainty: They say the last salary settlement procedure will only start after company assets are returned. In the meantime, the salary and benefits are in limbo, and many employees are concerned about unpaid salary when they are fired.

Layoffs Extend to the Philippines

Other workers in the Philippines also reported that they endured mass layoffs that involved raters, quality personnel, team leads and managers. Reductions were attributed to falling volumes of service on a key client project in online posts. According to Innodata, there were more than 10,000 staff on its payroll by the time it released its 2025 annual report.

What Employees Should Do After Sudden Termination

  1. If you are a victim of Innodata job cuts, then you have some steps to protect your job:
  2. Try to save all the files you can. Have the offer letter, appointment letter, previous payslips and the termination letter on your phone or email.
  3. Ask for records in writing. Request payslips, relieving letter, experience certificate and a list of dues from HR by email.
  4. Track pending dues. Record unused vacation, notice periods, provident fund and bonuses due.

The Bigger Picture

Know your options. If the dues are late, you can follow up with the company’s HR leaders and, if necessary, you can talk to the local labour authority. Reviewing your contract and local employment conditions and/or consulting with labour law professionals will help.
