According to the Work-Related Traumatic Injury Fatalities report, in Queensland, agriculture, forestry and fishing workers had the highest fatality rate at 18.4 per 100,000 workers. The highest number of fatalities resulted from vehicle collisions and machinery operators.

Transport, postal and warehousing

The transport, postal and warehousing industry provides important services to Australians. In 2019, Transport, postal and warehousing accounted for almost a third (32%) of fatalities. There were 7.8 fatalities per 100,000 workers in 2020. As many as 29 workers have been killed because of accidents in this sector since the start of this year.

Construction

Construction is one of the most dangerous jobs in Australia. Almost 7 workers have been killed because of accidents since the start of this year. From 2015 to 2019, there were 150 worker fatalities in the Construction industry in Australia. Vehicle collisions are the common mechanisms of worker fatalities in this industry.

Manufacturing is one of the industries identified as a national priority for prevention activities in the Australian Work Health and Safety Strategy. Arts and recreation services also suffer from workplace injuries. People usually work in zoos, parks, recreational sports and amusement centres. In 2020, the arts and recreation sector had 2,120 serious accidents and 1 death. Reportedly, 4 people died in 2021 in this sector.
