(C):

If you have ever experienced the UAE hiring process and found yourself overwhelmed with paperwork, you are not the first. But all is about to fall into place. The UAE has just announced a significant reform of its UAE Work Permit process that is aimed at simplifying the process for both job seekers and employers.

Who is affected?

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has initiated a new chapter in the continuous enhancement and digitisation of its work permit services, revolutionising the process of issuing, managing and processing permits in the UAE labour market.

Here’s the big news — there are no supporting documents needed anymore; it’s a 100% reduction. The availability of required data for some permits has been cut by up to 97% on top of that! Translation? No more waiting, no more paperwork and a much quicker route to work.

The Zero Government Bureaucracy Programme is a wider initiative across the UAE to reduce red tape in government processes to create even greater Dubai as a hub for business and employment.

13 Types of UAE Work Permits — There’s One for (Almost) Everyone

The best aspect of this overhaul is that there are so many choices available! MoHRE no longer issues just one type of UAE work permit; it now has 13 types. Now, let’s take a glimpse at some of the finest types available:

  • Freelancer work permit UAE: This is an apt choice for independent expats who can support themselves and want to work independently.
  • Part time jobs UAE permit: This will allow employers to engage employees on a part-time basis according to the provision under the work permit – employees are also allowed to obtain more than one part-time work permit (under specific circumstances).
  • Temporary work permit UAE: This helps organizations employ any particular individual for a project but not to make him stay permanently in UAE.
  • Mission Work Permit: This is suitable for organizations that want to hire from abroad for definite assignments.
  • Golden Residency holder work permit UAE: This is the work permit that allows employment in UAE under the Golden Visa scheme.
  • Student Training and Employment Permit: Gives students (15 years and older) the opportunity to work in a meaningful way.

There is a UAE work permit pathway for everyone – from a nurse to a freelancer, from a student to a senior professional.

The Hiring Process Just Got Faster

All Permit Services have been moved to the UAE’s unified digital platforms for both job seekers and recruiters without requiring any in-person visits to MoHRE. Easily submitted online and approvals received more quickly than ever before, as the UAE recruitment process is streamlined and simplified.

It’s a game-changer for employers. This makes the UAE employment visa processing faster with less time between employment decision and onboarding. It also removes the stress and time consuming paperwork for employees.

Have Your Say Before July 30

MoHRE has also extended the public consultation period to July 30, 2026, to encourage employers and workers to provide input on the current permit services and propose additional enhancements. If there have been issues you have faced in relation to the UAE work visa process, it’s time to voice it.

The Bottom Line

The UAE’s new UAE work permit policy is a clear indication that the UAE is looking to get skilled, motivated people – freelancers, full-timers, students and all in between – and they are working hard to welcome them in with fewer hassles and quicker.

If you are already in the UAE or wish to move to the UAE, this is an excellent time to find employment in the UAE. The doors are open, the paperwork is reducing, and the UAE regulations for the workforce are changing in favour of the workers.

First of all, you need to visit the UAE’s official digital platform, MoHRE, to identify the appropriate UAE work permit category for your needs and take a step toward your career in the UAE.
