The Workers Rights 
The Jordan Ministry of Labour in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior and Public Security Directorate is implementing a program to regularize non-Jordanian employees approved by the Cabinet. The current window ends on September 30, 2026, giving employers a final opportunity to correct irregular work and residency files.
It applies to foreign workers in all economic sectors other than domestic workers, and some sectors are covered by special provisions or restrictions, such as some specific professions.
Major Fee and Overstay Exemptions
For the previous periods the regularization framework offers a discount of 50% in accumulated work permit fees. It also bars applicable penalties for permit expiration or transfer during the period of regularization.
For foreign employment 100% exemption from penalties for overstay is also implemented when the status of their employment is regularized within the above period. Exemptions are provided for historical permit fees and penalties for workers who entirely leave Jordan.
JOD 800 Fine Risk After the Deadline
Employers will be better enforced for continuing business operations despite contraventions of the Jordanian law starting from 1st of October. The Ministry has also stated that the companies have the possibility of being fined at least JOD 800 per foreign worker being employed at an illegal place.
In addition, non-regularized employees have been stated to be eligible to be given a label of “deportation” during electronic systems. Permits are 3 months, or 3 months or more, by the expiration date, workers may face deportation measures if their permits are not regularized.
Employer Compliance Checklist
Businesses should review foreign-worker documentation, confirm that foreign nationals have valid work permits, and ensure that they are in the country before September 30 and all paperwork is completed. To minimise compliance risk, it is also advisable for employers to seek out staffing from contractors and other third parties and conduct an audit.
The Ministry has increased the working hours for labour offices until the end of September in order to support labor applications to be regularized.
