Sonos layoffs: Famous audio brand plans 200 job cuts

Sonos, a reputed audio equipment manufacturer, is cutting 200 jobs as part of a major restructuring effort. It comes after a 100-person layoff last year. CEO Tom Conrad announced the layoffs during an internal call and later in an email to staff.

Conrad, named the interim CEO after Patrick Spence resigned from the top position in January, recognised the hardship of the layoffs and expressed gratitude to those affected by the recent restructuring efforts for their contributions.

Informing the staff of his difficult decision to eliminate 200 positions at Sonos, the CEO explained that the company is undergoing a restructuring to create “flatter, smaller and more focused teams.”

The employees affected by the decision are going to receive severance pay based on their tenure. Those eligible for the quarterly bonus plan may get a Q1 bonus. Conrad has also offered his support to laid-off staff – regarding job introductions.
