Justice for migrants: 17 migrants killed and burned by Mexican cops

In a shocking incident, Mexican former police officers killed and burned 17 migrants near the United States border, on 21 January, 2021. However, the former Mexican cops were roaming freely for more than 2 years after conducting the heinous crime. They did not care about migrants and their lives.

What happened to the migrants? Which Mexican police officers were involved in this crime? They murdered migrants without any guilt.

What happened to the migrants?

According to knowledgeable sources,16 migrants from Guatemala a Central American country south of Mexico and one migrant from Honduras a Central American country bordered to the west by Guatemala were heading to the US border on 21 January, 2021.

They were killed in the community of Santa Anita in Tamaulipas, a state in Mexico, which is close to the border with the US.

Reportedly, 12 Mexican police officers killed 17 migrants on 21 January, 2021. The migrants were shot and burned by Mexican police officers near the US border.

Justice for migrants

On 14 September, 11 Mexican police officers were found guilty of murdering the migrants. The prosecutor’s office said in a statement that the migrants “lost their lives due to gunshot wounds and were subsequently incinerated.”

Previously, all the 12 police officers were charged with murder of migrants. However, one police officer cooperated with the investigation. The charge against him was changed from murder to abuse of authority.

The prosecutor’s office said it “managed to obtain a conviction” against 11 Mexican police officers accused of killing the migrants.

The dead bodies of the migrants were found in a truck in Camargo, a city in the eastern part of the Mexican state of Chihuahua. The authorities found a total of 19 dead bodies from the truck, including dead bodies of 17 migrants and 2 human traffickers.

In 2021, Tamaulipas state attorney general, Irving Barrios Mojica, said that the Mexican cops killed 19 people, including Guatemalan migrants.

Previously, Marco Antonio Mariño, vice president of the Tamaulipas Federation of Business Chambers, slammed the Mexican cops for killing migrants. Marco Antonio Mariño said, “If any attention had been paid, perhaps today we would not be mourning the deaths of migrants.”

Victims’ families are still waiting for justice. They are demanding strict action against the Mexican cops.
