During the May half-term Gatwick Airport could experience delays because workers from two different groups plan to strike about pension and pay concerns. The members of Unite union serving easyJet and other airlines through Redline Oil Services will conduct their strike during two separate periods: May 16-20 and May 23-27. The industrial action occurs because employees continue arguing about their compensation benefits.
The workforce of Red Handling has organized four consecutive strike dates from May 11 until June 2, which will affect more than 100 members working as baggage handlers and check-in staff, and flight dispatchers. The staff members had conducted work stoppages during Easter due to pension payment matters. EasyJet has declared they possess backup plans, yet Gatwick Airport representatives understand the situation while cooperating with every entity to reduce passenger consequences.
