Dino De Matteis, a 67-year-old former event organizer from Rimini, finds himself in a dire financial predicament. He is yet to receive his pension at INPS, after hard work throughout his life and assuming that he made the required contributions to his social security fund. He lives in San Marino at present and is dependent on his 95-year-old mother. Although unions had promised years back, he has been asking INPS several questions which they have not responded to. Frustrated by the silence and the bureaucratic INPS Delay, De Matteis has issued a dramatic ultimatum: he will launch a Pension Protest by chaining himself to the INPS offices if his rights are not honored.
The situation is increasingly critical for Dino De Matteis, a well-known figure in the Rimini event sector with his company “Eventi 3000”. He tells the press about his confusion: I worked my life… I would always make the contributions to the end. Two years back exams with the CGIL indicated that his job was standard. And now he is confronted by a wall of silence. He is confused, whether he has lost his hard-earned money in the system or it is frozen due to the administrative mistake. This confusion and the consequent financial stress has brought him to the edge of desperation.
With no income and relying on his elderly mother, the potential for a physical Pension Protest is becoming his only option. He is planning to tie himself to the INPS headquarters in Rimini. It is his final option to compel the institution to give him answers and pay back his money that he had worked all his life. He does not want anything but what is his due: a quiet retirement not a struggle to stay alive.
