UN Women Job Fair encourages women to return to work

United Nations Women, the UN organization dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women, has organized a UNite HER job fair to encourage women to return to work.

UNite HER’ Job Fair was held at Jnana Jyothi Auditorium, Palace Road, Bangalore, India, on 9 September. [24]7.ai, a customer service software and services company based in California, announced its collaboration with UN Women to support the “UNite HER” Job Fair in the Republic of India.

The UNite HER job fair was held to bring Indian women back to work by providing access to jobs, offering professional career opportunities to fresh graduates, as well as providing mentorship and networking opportunities. 

The job fair was organized with the support of UN Women and UN Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEP) signatories. 

Havas Group India also launched the Havas “Bounce Back” program at the job fair to encourage women to return to the workforce. NatWest Group India launched their Re-invest program to focus on women’s re-entry into the workforce. The program was aimed at providing women with the right guidance and support to enhance their existing skills.

Zensar Technologies, one of the participating WEPs signatories, said that the company would hire more women. The company launched an initiative called “Enliven” to encourage women to return to the workforce.

Virtual job fair

A virtual job fair will also be held on September 14, 2023, to encourage women to return to work. Under the job fair, women will be connected directly to employers. They will be able to showcase their skills and experiences through on the spot interviews.

Women with career breaks are also encouraged to attend the job fair. Fresh graduates will also get a chance to showcase their skills to employers.

Suhela Khan, Country Program Manager, Women Economic Empowerment (WEE), UN Women India, lauded the job fair and encouraged women to give interviews. Nina Nair, Senior Vice President & HRD Head, India & Americas at [24]7.ai, encouraged fresh graduates and returning women professionals to give interviews to get the job.
