The Gaza ceasefire and hostage release deal is offering a lot of respite to affected Palestinian families in the territory as UN agencies continue to scale up their humanitarian assistance to help people and ease their difficulties.

Humanitarian partners on the ground are noticing significant progress in operations. It comes after periods of intense looting by criminal gangs, enabling aid organisations to boost their humanitarian response to the crisis in the Gaza Strip.

In central and southern Gaza, monthly food distributions are gradually resuming. Medical assistance is also surging in. Fuel is also being supplied. In Gaza City, the Beach health centre and Daraj medical point reopened, offering much-needed access to medical care.

Despite these efforts as the Gaza ceasefire and hostage release deal takes hold, the humanitarian situation in the territory remains dire. Most Palestinians are still residing in displacement sites, unable to return home due to different reasons.
