kim jong un urges north korean women to have more children; is it a tragedy
Kim Jong Un, a North Korean politician and the supreme leader of North Korea, has urged North Korean women to have more children. He has made a passionate appeal for an increase in the nation’s diminishing birth rate.
It is a tragedy for North Korea, which is controlled by the Kim family. North Korea’s issues run deeper than just a declining birth rate, increasing concerns over food security, economic instability, and international isolation.
Kim Jong Un made the appeal while speaking at the National Mothers Meeting in Pyongyang, North Korea. He was seen crying while asking women to have more children.
The North Korean leader reportedly said, “Preventing a decline in birth rates and good childcare are all of our housekeeping duties we need to handle while working with mothers.”
Since the 1990s, North Korea has faced chronic food shortages and economic stagnation. People are living in intense fear because of Kim Jong Un. The North Korean government has tight control over the lives of every citizen living in North Korea.
He called upon the mothers to be adept instillers of communist values in their offspring. He has shown concern over North Korea’s falling birth rate.
Following South Korea’s estimations, there has been a significant decline in the fertility rate in North Korea. Women in North Korea do not want to have children because of the country’s economic crisis.
North Korea’s erratic, unpredictable and little-known leader can take vast steps to address this issue. While these emotional pleas, North Koreans cannot forget the torture of the leader.
In September, The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Turk, raised serious concerns over DPRK’s severe political repression and worsening economic conditions. The UN official also shined the spotlight on the widespread use of forced labor, involving children as well, to support North Korea’s ability to develop weapons.
In August, the UNSC also held a meeting to discuss the human rights crisis in North Korea. The U.S. Ambassador emphasized that the human rights abuses and violations committed by North Korea’s government are connected to its development of prohibited weapons.
North Koreans’ plight continues to worsen.
