If you’ve been refreshing your EPFO passbook every morning wondering “Where is my interest?” — you’re not alone. Right now, millions of EPF members throughout India are in the same situation. The good news is that your money will be safe and you’ll also be receiving the EPF Interest.

EPF interest rate for 2025-26

The Central Board of Trustees officially approved the same interest rate of 8.25% for the financial year 2025-26 for EPF. It was announced in the first week of March 2026 through a Press Release of the Ministry of Labour and Employment.

Yes, it is confirmed. Well, when will it actually show up in your account?

Why Is EPF Interest Not Credited Yet?

Before crediting interest into the subscribers’ accounts, EPFO will have to obtain the Government’s official notification of the recommended rate. It is like a 2-step process:

  • The Central Board of Trustees makes a recommendation for the rate.
  • It is a formal notification from the government that leads to the interest being credited to EPFO.

Since the date for this notice has not been announced yet, you are seeing the EPF Interest Payment Delay notice. This happens quite often and happens each year.

When Is This Likely to Happen?

Below is the probability of your getting what you want, considering the previous years’ experience:

  • In 2024–25, most EPF members saw their interest credited in June–July 2025
  • In previous years, the PF Interest Credit Status was updated no later than September or October.

Experts say that in recent years EPFO has made a lot of efforts to enhance its processing speed. So if this trend persists, then the best time to see your EPFO Interest Credit 2025-26 is either June or July 2026.

Will You Lose Any Interest Because of the Delay?

No, this is the most important thing to understand.

EPF Scheme 1952 provides that interest on the Employee Provident Fund is calculated monthly on the balance. In that case:

Even if the credit comes in September, the interest will continue to be credited at 8.25% from April 2025.

EPFO has made a number of clarifications on this. The date on which the interest is credited in the EPF does not influence the interest credited into the account; rather, it is simply the date when it appears in your passbook.
