Ride on Swiggy, Zomato or Blinkit, and the government has announced that you will get ₹2 lakh of free accident cover — and it’s only 15 minutes to register. In the new e-Shram Accident Insurance scheme for 2026, delivery riders who are enrolled in the scheme are directly linked to the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), and they are covered for the first year without any cost, and get ₹1 lakh as compensation in case of partial disability.

Documents You Need
To visit the eshram.gov.in, you should have these ready:
- Aadhaar Card (mandatory)
- Aadhaar-linked mobile number (for OTP)
- Bank Account No. and IFSC (if the direct benefit transfer option is being used)
- Be between the ages of 16 and 59 years
No Aadhaar-linked mobile? For biometric registration, visit your local Common Service Centre (CSC) — there is a nominal charge of ₹20 – 30.
Step-by-Step Registration Guide
Step 1: Visit the Portal (eshram.gov.in) – Only the official Portal, do not use third-party links.
Step 2: Click Register on e-Shram from the top right corner or “One Stop Solution” tab.
Step 3: Check your mobile. Enter your Aadhaar mobile number and captcha, and click on Send OTP. Enter the OTP received on your mobile number.
Step 4: Aadhaar e-KYC: Select ‘Register using Aadhaar number’ and then enter your Aadhaar number (12-digit), and verify through OTP or fingerprint at a CSC.
Step 5: Confirm Personal Information. It is important for you to confirm all such details so that there are no discrepancies at a later stage.
Step 6: Select Occupation (Very Important): In the occupation section, you must select the option “Platform & Gig Worker,” then enter “Delivery Executive” as the Occupation.
Step 7: Fill in Bank Details and Nominee: Your bank details are provided accurately and the nominee from your family will be selected for the purpose of claim if an accident occurs.
Step 8: Save & Download. You will get your e-Shram UAN card instantly and download it as a PDF. This is the card you have as proof of eShram Accident Insurance enrollment.
Key 2026 Updates for Riders
The portals have also been updated with a new ‘Platform & Gig Worker’ category for the Swiggy, Zomato and Blinkit riders, eliminating any previous confusion. The new Aggregator module allows delivery companies to connect to worker data directly, simplifying benefits access. The accident cover of ₹ 2 lakh is free for the first year and then begins to auto-renew with ease.
