Sudan’s Capital Khartoum Warmly Welcomed their “First Aid Convoy” Post the Eruption of Civil War

The disastrous conflict which arose between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) which broke out in February 2023 has led to the stratified serious humanitarian crisis in Sudan, the third largest country in Africa. According to the reports of the UN, nearly 25 million Sudanese people have been displaced due to this ghastly civil war in which 8 million people were replaced due to famine. Many resolutions and humanitarian actions have been passed in the UN Security Council to recover the ruined humanity in Sudan. But the war became even worse and intense in October 2024.

Today, the people of Sudan encountered serendipity with the arrival of a first aid convoy after the eruption of the civil war in 2023. To the BBC’s Newsday programme Ms.Tariq, a Sudanese Humanitarian Group has told the uncontrollable joy of the Sudanese people after the arrival of the convoy of 28 trucks with food and medical supplies.

“There were tears, tears of laughter and joy and tears of a lot of effort and exhaustion from arranging this… it was quite a moment”, said Ms.Tariq

“Here in Khartoum, (we are in) desperate need of this aid. We’ve been waiting for it and we’ve been trying so many ways and methods to go around this, but the only way to help reduce the famine effect in Khartoum right now, is to receive this aid” Ms.Tariq added.

More than half of the attacks during this civil war have been laid on the capital of the country Khartoum which is estimated as 54% and the war has also taken the lives of one-third of the Sudanese who were in the capital.
