South Korea Orders Boeing 737-800 Fleet Inspection Following Deadly Crash

South Korean aviation authorities said on Monday that all Boeing 737-800 aircraft in the South Korean commercial fleet will be subject to safety checks following Sunday’s fatal crash, which was the nation’s deadliest aviation accident in years.

Today, South Korea faces a leadership crisis since the two highest authorities in the country, President Yoon Suk Yeol, and President Han Duck-soo, have been impeached. The political vacuum is attributable to apprehensions on the part of the citizenry of Yoon’s fleeting assertion of martial law at the start of the present month.

The crash site has been visited by some aviation professionals but it could take several weeks or even months to understand the cause of the crash. The incident has led to demands to beef up the supervision of safety measures in civil aviation with reference to the Boeing 737- 800s.

At the same time, relatives of the deceased have arrived at a designated crisis center, while the country is trying both to cope with the numbers of the victims and to understand the consequences of this crash.
