Georgia has emerged as a popular option for Indian students who want to study MBBS due to its student friendly English speaking programs, stream lined transparent visa process, FMGE coaching and cheap fees.

How easy is the visa process for Indian students?

After students are accepted, they often apply for a D-3 student visa and receive a one year renewable permit, with far fewer complications compared to applying for a visa with many Western countries. Students do not have to write a language test or an entrance test like the NEET (except for FMGE eligibility).

Which medical programs are available and in English?

Several top universities such as Tbilisi State Medical University, David Tvildiani, Caucasus International, New Vision and SEU offer MD (equivalent to MBBS) for six years in English. The basic science portion of the curriculum comprises two years of study followed by three years of clinical training and one year of internship training in a teaching hospital.

How affordable is medical study & living in Georgia?

Tuition is around INR 3-6 lakh (~USD 4,000–6,000) per year and total six year costs are ~INR 25-40 lakh including living.

Living costs are $15-25k/month, ($1.8-3 lakh/year); it’s extremely cost effective compared to Indian private colleges or western programs.

What about FMGE readiness and licensing?

Universities are increasingly including the FMGE or USMLE exam preparation as part of their courses. More and more universities are including FMGE modules, Indian faculty and are partnering with coaching organizations.

Who should apply and when?

Ideal for Class 12 students graduating in 2026: create a shortlist by October 2025 and make applications in January-April in 2026 for a start date in September. Ensure that your NEET qualification will still be valid for FMGE qualification after you graduate.
