Is AI Really Your Savior? Deloitte Using AI To Prevent Layoffs

Amid the rapid expansion of technology, AI (artificial intelligence) has become a savior for employees and employers. Deloitte, the largest professional services network by revenue and number of professionals in the world and is considered one of the Big Four accounting firms along with EY, KPMG and PwC, is reportedly using AI to prevent layoffs.

According to Bloomberg, the company is using AI to potentially shift existing employees into new roles. The move is aimed at preventing mass layoffs and balancing new hiring growth.

Is AI really your savior?

In recent months, Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited has been trying to figure out how to deal with new hires. AI is helping workers move into roles that are more in-demand. 

The company has been using AI technology to assess its current employees’ skills. With the help of AI, the employees will be moved into areas of the business that are more promising. 

In the coming years, Deloitte, a multinational professional services network, will avoid mass layoffs and continue hiring with the help of AI. 

Stevan Rolls, Global Chief Talent Officer – Deloitte, said, “It is obviously a great objective to be able to avoid large swings of hirings and layoffs.”

Deloitte using AI to prevent layoffs

Deloitte, one of the Big Four accounting firms along with EY, KPMG and PwC, has already started using generative AI tools to eliminate repetitive work. 

In 2023, the company hired 130,000 new employees. The company is figuring out how to deal with all their new hires and avoid mass layoff.

Amid the rapid expansion of technology, adoption of AI can help to reshape how the workers work, boost their productivity, and can lead to innovation. Democratised Generative AI helps to generate content like text, images, or other data. 

Last month, Bill Gates – an American businessman, investor, philanthropist, writer, and co-founder of the software giant Microsoft – said that a 3-day work week was possible with the help of AI. Bill Gates said that AI can take over labor-intensive tasks, allowing people to focus on more meaningful endeavors.
