The Israel Defense Forces (IDF), the national military of the State of Israel, recovered the bodies of five hostages from a tunnel in northern Gaza. The three IDF soldiers and two Israeli civilians were abducted during Hamas’ October 7 attack on Israel.
The three IDF soldiers and two Israeli civilians were found inside the Hamas underground tunnel network. They were in Hamas captivity in the Gaza Strip.
Israeli forces blamed Hamas fighters for killing three IDF soldiers and two Israeli civilians. However, Hamas blamed Israeli forces for killing some of the hostages in its bombings on the Gaza Strip.
Some 1,200 people in Israel, most of them civilians, were massacred by thousands of Hamas fighters. Hamas also kidnapped 240 people, including women, children and the elderly.
The Israel-Gaza war started on 7 October. The ongoing conflict between Israelis and Hamas militants led to the killing of thousands of people.
The Israel-Hamas conflict has increased violence in Israel and the Gaza Strip. Recently, Pope Francis, the head of the Catholic Church, the bishop of Rome and sovereign of the Vatican City State, said that Israel killed two Christian women who had taken refuge in a church complex.
The United Nations, an intergovernmental organization, also asked Israel to stop using water as a “weapon of war” amid the conflict. Pedro Arrojo-Agudo, the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the human rights to safe drinking water and sanitation, said that intentionally depriving the civilians of water rights was a crime against humanity.
Earlier this month, a fighting between Hamas fighters and Israeli forces had taken place. Hamas militants carried out the deadliest-ever attack on Israel. It killed 1200 people and injured several others.
Previosuly, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Hamas raped various Israeli women, while US President Joe Biden said that Hamas militants beheaded 40 babies. United Kingdom Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said, “The people who support Hamas are fully responsible for this appalling attack.
Many celebrities also slammed Hamas for killing people. ‘Wonder Woman’ Gal Gadot condemned the continued holding of women hostages by Hamas fighters in the Gaza Strip. She said, “The world has failed the women of October 7th.”
