amazon working with elon musk’s spacex to provide internet
Amazon, an American multinational technology company, aims to provide internet in remote areas. The company has signed a contract with Elon Musk-owned SpaceX in order to take a step forward in its mission.
Amazon is reportedly working with SpaceX, an American spacecraft manufacturer, launch service provider, defense contractor and satellite communications company, to provide internet in remote areas.
Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos have a long history of trolling each other. They are not afraid of little competition. SpaceX has more than 5,000 Starlink satellites in orbit, while Amazon has two Kuiper satellites in orbit.
Last month, Amazon launched a pair of two prototype satellites for its Project Kuiper network. The project is an initiative by Amazon to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO).
Earlier this month, Amazon announced that the satellites were operating successfully. The company signed a contract with SpaceX to take these satellites in orbit.
Amazon said that the “launches with SpaceX offer even more capacity to support our deployment schedule.”
Amazon aims to build a constellation of 3,236 satellites in order to compete with SpaceX’s Starlink network.
Amazon will use SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket for three launches in 2025. Project Kuiper will provide users across the globe with internet connectivity.
In recent months, Satellite companies and government agencies have become increasingly reliant on Elon Musk and SpaceX.
Amazon, which vowed in 2019 to invest $10 billion in its project, will put Kuiper satellites on three Falcon 9 rockets from SpaceX.
Falcon 9 by SpaceX is a partially reusable medium-lift launch vehicle that can carry cargo and crew into Earth orbit. American aerospace company SpaceX, owned by Elon Musk, launched the first Falcon 9 in 2010.
Earlier this month, SpaceX came into the limelight after Reuters news agency documented at least 600 previously unreported workplace injuries at SpaceX.
Workplace injuries soared in Elon Musk’s SpaceX. Several employees suffered due to workplace injuries at SpaceX facility in McGregor, Texas, the United States.
