Striking Hollywood writers are considering a new labor proposal from studios after a three-month standoff.

The Writers Guild of America (WGA) received this counterproposal from the Alliance of Motion Picture & Television Producers (AMPTP), representing the studios.

The union will review the offer and respond next week after careful consideration. The strike began on May 2 when contract negotiations between writers and studios failed.

The Screen Actors Guild (SAG) joined the strike in July. While evaluating the offer, the WGA encourages its members to continue picketing.

Progress is being made as the AMPTP and WGA plan to resume negotiations this week. Both parties are returning to the table after discussions about a new labor contract.

The AMPTP is preparing a formal response to the WGA’s proposals, including improved minimum rates, higher streaming residuals, and staffing requirements for writers’ rooms.

The AMPTP’s president, Carol Lombardini, personally initiated the request to restart negotiations. The WGA wants the AMPTP to address the workers’ concerns that triggered the strike and hopes for constructive responses.
