Senior Thailand Post Employees Receive First Salary Increase After 18 years – Salary Details Inside

For the first time since 2007, senior staff at Thailand Post will receive a much-delayed pay rise. On July 1, the Cabinet of the Thai government approved a salary increase for executive-level staff according to recommendations from the State Enterprise Labour Relations Committee (SELRC) to raise the caps. The change takes immediate effect.

Thailand Post employs a 53 step salary system with 12 levels. For many years, executive compensation has remained static despite increased responsibilities and changing market conditions. As the outdated pay cap had resulted in a widening disparity between Thailand Post and other state enterprises, concerns had arisen regarding retaining experienced leadership talent.

Revised Salary Levels for Executives

The newly approved increases to salaries apply to the top three levels of executives:

Chief Business Officer (Level 12) – 113,520 baht to 142,830 baht.

Deputy Managing Director (Level 11) – 108,810 baht to 133,770 baht.

Divisions Manager (Level 10 ) – 104,310 baht to 124,770 baht.

Thailand Post confirmed the wage increase would be funded entirely from the operating budget. New initiatives will be introduced to create new revenue sources and reduce expenditure to ensure a sound financial footing. However, no wage increase was announced for lower-level employees who fill many critical roles in shipping operations.

Minimum Wage Increases Across Thailand

The new national minimum wage of Thailand took effect at the same time as the executive pay rise. New daily wages mean workers in areas such as Bangkok and the major service industry can now earn up to 400 baht per day, Chiang Mai and Songkhla 380 baht per day and up to 372 baht per day in several provinces. The actual pay is dependent on the cost of living.

This is a long-overdue move toward aligning wages to economic reality.
