Texas housing facility reopened for migrant children; What to expect

What to expect

Earlier this week, Texas witnessed the reopening of a housing facility for unaccompanied migrant children. The facility already welcomed a group of unaccompanied migrant minors on Tuesday.

The Joe Biden administration in the United States reopened the Pecos facility in Texas, where unaccompanied migrant children are currently being held.

The United States Department of Health of Human Services facility, a former camp for oil workers in Pecos, Texas, was reopened to house migrant teenagers.

What can migrant children expect?

The Pecos facility has the capacity to hold up to 500 migrant children. The Texas authorities will provide shelter to a group of unaccompanied migrants. Migrant children will receive essential care at this facility.

The migrant facility stopped taking migrant children in federal custody this spring because of some problems. Earlier this month, the authorities decided to reopen the facility for migrant children.

The United States Department of Health of Human Services reactivated the site this week. Health of Human Services said that migrant children would be kept at standard care provider facilities.

Pecos City Manager, Charles Lino, said that the authorities were expecting 500 migrant children from ages 13-17. After opening the facility, Pecos City Manager urged people to help migrant children. The authorities also urged people who are bilingual to teach migrant children at the facility.

More than 13,000 unaccompanied migrant children in the US

Last month, Health of Human Services received over 13,000 unaccompanied migrant children. According to the U.S. border officials, HHS received an average of 431 migrant children per day in August. In July, HHS received an average of 304 migrant children per day. Last year, United States border officials transferred 130,000 unaccompanied migrant children to HHS.

There has been a sharp increase in the number of unaccompanied migrant children crossing the southern border.

As of 13 September, HHS is holding more than 10,600 migrant children.

HHS to open another influx housing facility

HHS is also set to open another influx housing facility for migrants at a former boarding school in Greensboro, North Carolina, a state in the Southeastern region of the United States. The facility would provide shelters to unaccompanied minors. HHS has taken responsibility for the new facility.

HHS said it would adopt various measures to improve conditions at the influx facilities.
