In a major financial relief move for thousands, the Telangana government has cleared the pending medical reimbursement dues of INR 180.30 crore. The announcement was made in Hyderabad by Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Thursday. The latest scheme will clear medical dues for 26,519 government employees and pensioners with medical claims due for years.

The decision has been made at a time when the state is facing major financial challenges. But the government focused on its endorsement of welfare programs, emphasising its health care obligations to its present and retired staff. Vikramarka also explained that the outstanding dues were from the previous government.

Relief for Over 26,500 Beneficiaries

The disbursal of funds has provided much-needed relief to employees and retirees who have endured the financial strain of long wait times for reimbursement. For many, the negative implications of a lack of timely support really affected their family financially. Disbursing the funds has restored a sense of faith in the system for employees and retirees who have served or continue to serve the state.

Government’s Welfare Focus Amid Financial Strain

Even though the budget situation is tight, Deputy CM Vikramarka reaffirmed the commitment of the state to the welfare of the people, especially in healthcare. The decision to release medical dues reflects a commitment to employee welfare.

Across Telangana, employee and pensioner associations were elated with the development, deeming it a morale-boosting gesture. The employees commended the government’s timely action to address what had become a long-standing issue under the previous administration.
