tabu says 'work life balance is a personal choice'
Recently during an interview with The Nod, one of the most successful actresses of Bollywood Tabu came up with interesting views regarding work-life balance, she said the idea does not fit into her life. The popular 53-year-old actress of Indian movies shared her views on work, happiness, and choice of life. She does this in her show, giving people this perspective on such a much-discussed topic as has working women still have a life.?
The great actress asks herself about a clear division between the working and private sphere pointing at the fact that for some people, work becomes the meaning of their life. Still reflecting on the question – What if somebody’s life is only work? What if one does not wish to have a life outside work? What if one does not want a separate life outside work? She recognizes the fact that gender, family, culture, personal preferences, age, and physical ability make the work-life equation very unique for everyone.
The discussion goes further down the aspect of her decision-making of being a single woman in her 50s, Tabu feels a bit skeptical of how she might have been with a companion. She does not regret the lifestyle she currently enjoys the fact that she cannot compare it with any other since it is all she has ever known.
Tabu also said, “I am very happy with my life. I mean, I’m not 20, and my definition of happy is not the same at 50. Happiness is overrated, everyone is trying to be happy. I think contentment is more important. Acceptance, too. I have always accepted myself as I am.”
