Switzerland is extremely worried by the increasing number of arrests and deaths associated with the incessant protests in Iran. These are some of the matters mentioned by the Swiss Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) in the latest X post when it is requesting Iranian officials to stop using violence against protesters and safeguard human rights and fundamental freedoms of everyone.
Iran’s Protest Crisis Deepens
Demonstrations continue to escalate in Iran and at least 648 people, including children, have died and thousands of others have been detained in a countrywide crackdown. The security agents have been using deadly weapons as they attack the heads and the upper body of the protesters, and an internet blackout, since the beginning of January has stifled verification and caused panic about mass executions. Such rights organizations as Iran Human Rights threaten the presence of more than 10,000 detainees, which makes it one of the worst reactions of the regime in recent years.
Switzerland’s Diplomatic Stance
The Swiss MFA had already made the same pronouncement of excessive use of force as that of previous reactions to earlier Iranian unrest. Switzerland promotes the idea of restraint and freedom of expression, even on the social media, and open investigations of the death of protesters. This is in line with UN and EU calls of de-escalation and possible sanctions around the globe.

International Reactions
President Donald Trump has maintained open military options, but focused on diplomacy, with pro-government rallies and state funerals as honor killings to honor security personnel.
