Bollywood actor and philanthropist Sonu Sood has been awarded the Miss World Humanitarian Award and said that he was recognising not himself but every single unsung hero across the country. After receiving the award, Sonu posted pictures of the event on his Instagram, where he received the award from actor Rana Daggubati. “This award honours every single mother who prayed for a bus to take her children home, every student who could not afford an education but never gave up dreaming of studying, and every migrant labourer who walked hundreds of miles and who never lost faith,” wrote Sonu Sood in his note.

Sonu Sood, who is popularly known for his humanitarian actions during the COVID-19 pandemic, became the national emblem of hope when he managed to organise and return thousands of stranded migrants back home. His commitment to public service has led him to receive various honours and accolades, including the UNDP’s SDG Special Humanitarian Action Award in 2020.

Apart from emergency support, Sonu set up the Sood Charity Foundation; the foundation initiated the Sonu Sood Scholarship to financially assist underprivileged students to help study abroad. He also incorporated Shakti Sagar Productions in 2016 in memory of his father and, in 2022, released a social app, Explurger, to serve as a further link to the community.

To talk about his professional front, he was last seen in Fateh, an action thriller where he played an ex-agent whose mission was to battle cybercrime with key co-stars Naseeruddin Shah, Jacqueline Fernandez and Vijay Raaz.
