(C) Jordan MW Tours

According to the Philippine government, beginning July 1, 2025, travelers from Taiwan holding a passport will be permitted to enter the Philippines for tourism for up to 14 days without a visa. This is part of the Philippine government’s plan to improve regional mobility and enhance reciprocal travel arrangements after Taiwan extended visa free access for Filipino travelers.

Who is Eligible?

MECO advisory states that eligible travelers to the Philippines should present the following requirements:

  • A passport that is valid for at least six months beyond stay.
  • Confirmed hotel reservations.
  • Proof of financial capacity.
  • A return/onward ticket.

How Long Can Citizens of Taiwan Stay?

Tourist visitors who hold eligible passports may enter Taiwan without a visa for up to 14 days. This short term visitor status is for tourism only and is not extendable, nor can it be changed to an alternative status. If a visitor wishes to travel longer

than 14 days and potentially for another purpose (work, study, residency), they must apply for a visa with standard documents consisting of visa forms, copies of their national ID and visa fees.

What is the reason for the policy change?

This policy is a reciprocal response to Taiwan’s extension of visa free access for Filipinos until mid-2026. This is expected to enhance tourism, trade, investment and people to people exchanges. Taiwan is the second main tourism market for the Philippines in 2024 with 213,833 Taiwanese tourists that visited the Philippines.

What Should Travelers Do?

Travelers should:

Check the validity of all of your documents.

Stay within the 14 day duration of stay.

Follow and respect local laws.

Keep the emergency contacts handy. The Taiwanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has provided emergency hotlines for travelers staying in the Philippines.
