over 100 dead in guinea football stadium tragedy
In a sad event that was a bad dream for every citizen of the country over one hundred people were killed during a football match in the N’Zerekore region of Guinea as fans engaged in violence and the situation worsened badly. It happened during football games to celebrate Guinea’s junta leader Mamadi Doumbouya, when the referee made a decision that infuriated the fans, thus causing a complete social meltdown that claimed many lives and destroyed property.
A refereeing decision that was the subject of dispute was the trigger for the confrontation, according to witnesses, as tempers in the stadium rose immediately. The football fans stormed the pitch, making a football match turn into a mere show of anarchy. Local doctors and other multiple sources that we anonymously interviewed corroborated the death toll, saying that bodies have flooded local hospitals and morgue to an extent that proves the enormity of the tragedy.
It escalated very fast beyond the football stadium, and protesters directed their fury at other assets, including burning down the local police station in N’Zerekore. News clips of fans fleeing the scene by crawling walls and leaping off buildings were also seen showing how a joyful sporting event meant to honor the nation’s top military man degenerated into chaos and fear.
