By August 2025, Ontario is set to implement the major labour and immigration reforms through the proposed ‘Working for Workers Seven Act’. The significant highlight of this initiative – the modernization of the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP), which will introduce a digital employer portal for streamlined sponsorship applications. The portal, launching between June and August aims to speed up the processing and reduce the delays in the administration.

Further, to tackle the fraudulence the immigration officers will now be authorized to conduct in-person interviews. And it allows the immigration minister to adapt nomination streams based on labour market demands. Employers must ensure that applications align with the economic needs of Ontario. Additionally, it strengthens the protection of foreign workers which reflects the province’s broader goal of creating a fairer and a responsive labour system.
