‘Mass Immigration is not an opportunity for France’ – Interior Minister

The new and 63-year old Interior Minister of France Bruno Retailleau has given a statement about the mass immigration and illegal migration. Because it plays a huge role in the economy. He also added that the internal and national security law must be changed with more criminal sentences which could stop both mass immigration and illegal migration. Because France has been encountering the mass arrival of illegal migrants every year and it is believed that it is increasing every year. Interior Minister Retailleau critice that due to frail law enforcement against the illegal migration and mass immigration the population of illegal migrants has become equal to 10.3 percent to the total population of France.

“I have three priorities: restoring order, restoring order, restoring order. French people want more order – order in the streets, order at the borders.

Shame on those who, in their speeches, distil hatred towards our forces of order. It’s disgraceful, and I’ll never let it happen, because they are the shield of the republic,” said Interior Minister Retailleau.

Interior Minister Retailleau is considered as one of the prominent political figures in French politics. He is well known for his grim standpoint on illegal migration, national security, and mass immigration. He has advocated for scraping off the state medical aid scheme which benefits the healthcare of undocumented immigrants. He has also been accused of giving insensitive statements on race, ethnic origins, LGBTQ+ rights and voted against the right to abortion, same sex marriage. The following statements of other significant figures in France which go against his statement.

Head of the International Migration division at the OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development), Jean Christophe said, “The world population is increasing and therefore there are more and more immigrants, and (these) immigrants tend to go more and more to OECD countries. There is no doubt that immigration contributes to increasing GDP”

“When I put out an advert to recruit, only immigrants apply. These are jobs where you have to agree to work weekends and evenings until late. In Paris, without foreigners, restaurants don’t work!” said Xavier Denamur, a restaurant owner.

“Let’s be realistic, do we sincerely think that catering, agriculture work and many other sectors operate without immigration?

The answer is no!” – Emmanuel Macron, President of France.

“Is Retailleau very different from Darmanin? In practical terms, no” – Paul Smith, Associate Professor in French politics.

Amidst all these controversial statements Interior Minister Retailleau is considered as the “Key Man” in French Politics. He is also keen in wiping off all the possibilities at the borders and in the immigration law which might encourage or allow illegal migrations and the mass immigration.
