L&T Chairman’s Productive Speech: Emphasises on 90-hour work a week and expects work on Sundays too!
During an employee interaction the Chairman of L&T SN Subrahmanyan has delivered a speech about the work-life balance, and insisted on the 90-hour work week for a proactive company and he wants his employees to work even on Sundays too. His recent statement is getting viral along with controversies tied with the previous speech given by the Infosys CEO a few days ago, who advocated a ‘70-hour work’ in a week.
“I regret I am not able to make you work on Sundays, I will be happier, because I work on Sundays also.” He further continued about the off/holiday taken by the employees, “What do you do sitting at home? How long can you stare at your wife? How long can the wives stare at their husbands? Get to the office and start working”
When his speech which justified the statement of working ‘90-hour a week’ as ideal with the comparison of a Chinese got viral on all the social media pages many users opposed his stand and expressed their vexation & condemnation against his approach towards the employees’ working time and pattern as through the comments.
“Chinese people work 90 hours a week, while Americans work only 50 hours a week. So, that’s the answer for you. If you have got to be on top of the world, you have to work 90 hours a week” said the Chairman of L&T.
