Twitter’s new Chief Executive Officer Linda Yaccarino officially started her role at the company on Tuesday. This comes a few weeks after billionaire Elon Musk named her the new CEO in a tweet, leading her to getting counted among just a few women at the top of major tech firms.

Yaccarino, who formerly worked with NBCUniversal for over a decade, will now oversee business operations at her new company, while Musk will transition to ‘exec chair and CTO’, managing software, product and systems operations.

The new CEO made it official on LinkedIn by updating her bio. She penned down a post, announcing her new position and appreciating the Tesla boss’s vision to create a brighter future. She called on all to keep the conversation going and help build a better version of Twitter.

Who is Linda Yaccarino?

Before starting her new role at Twitter, Yaccarino used to work as Chairperson, Global Advertising and Partnership at NBCUniversal, playing a major role in the launch of the company’s Peacock streaming service.

She studied liberal arts and telecommunications at Penn State University.

The Twitter CEO recently hired former NBCUniversal executive Joe Benarroch. Welcoming a colleague from her previous company, Yaccarino tweeted, “Welcome to the flock @benarroch_joe! From one bird to the next.”

Benarroch – who has worked at Instagram before – will be responsible for business operations at Twitter, he revealed in a LinkedIn post. Meanwhile, Twitter’s head of trust and safety, Ella Irwin, has resigned from her post.

She was responsible for content moderation on the platform. Clearing the air around her stepping down, Irwin revealed her resignation in a tweet, while calling her time at the social media company a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
