Job Applications Skyrocket in DOGE-Targeted Agencies

The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) finds that the number of individuals applying for federal agency positions doubled when compared to last year as detailed in the latest Indeed report.

The records demonstrate a huge 75% growth in job application volume from Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and U.S. Agency for International Development employees. The number of job applications nearly doubled from January to February and economists consider this event highly abnormal. Stahle pointed out that the present change in government positions brought no parallel in previous administration transitions. Aggressive federal layoffs match the difficult conditions in the white-collar industry job market.

The small number of federal employees who make up 2% of US workers creates economic risks according to economist Claudia Sahm. Sahm sees the sharp DOGE push as creating additional economic dangers for consumers and the whole system. Scott Bessent from Treasury Department states that federal employees will move into private-sector employment though long-term financial impact remains riskier.
