Following another performance-based dismissal wave Infosys fired 240 trainees for underperforming in their assessments. During February and again in this latest move Infosys fired 320 trainee employees because they did not perform well in evaluations. The company sent emails to its 2022 trainees who failed their training program in October 2024 despite multiple opportunities to pass the course and special support.
Support Measures Announced
As part of the separation package, Infosys is offering:
- One month’s salary
- Accommodation and travel allowance
- Free skill training courses through NIIT and UpGrad
- Option to prepare for potential roles in Infosys BPM Limited
- Alternative IT fundamentals training to support future tech careers
The company ends its trainee placements in small numbers as it took on 15,000 new trainees during its fiscal year 2025. Employee advocacy organizations strongly oppose the latest actions of the company.
NITES submitted their second skill development ministry complaint because they see Infosys actions as illegal and immoral. NITES reports that Infosys forced apprentices under the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme to hand over mutual termination documents through illegal procedures.
The technology company is refining its workforce through these layoffs which demonstrate how it adapts its human resources for changing technology market requirements.
