Indonesia has announced the official introduction of the E33G Remote Worker Visa that permits Indian remote professionals to legally reside and work in Indonesia for up to 12 months (extendable for another 12 months). Launched in April 2024, the initiative seeks to attract global digital nomads and create opportunities to diversify the tourism led economy.
Who Can Apply for Indonesia’s Remote Worker Visa?
- To qualify, applicants must be employed by foreign based entities or freelance clients residing outside Indonesia. This visa prohibits engaging in any local employment or business activities while in Indonesia.
- Some of the main eligibility requirements include:
- Valid passport (at least 6 months of validity) containing three blank pages
- Demonstration of annual income in a minimum value of USD 60,000. (in the neighbourhood of ₹52.6 lakh)
- A recent 3 month bank statement demonstrating the account holder maintains a balance of a minimum of USD 2,000 in it (in the neighbourhood of ₹1.75 lakh)
- Proof of an outbound flight booking (within 60 days of arrival), evidence accommodation booking, passport-sized photo, etc.
How Do You Apply?
Applications are completely digital through Indonesia’s official immigration portal. The visa fee is 7 million IDR. Once approved you will need to enter the country within 90 days and complete the necessary KITAS registration to formally live there.
