Empowering Anganwadi- 200 Workers in Margherita Receive Mobile Phones

In a major milestone in digitalisation of grassroots public services, the Assam government distributed mobile devices to 200 Anganwadi Workers in Margherita under the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) programme. This occasion was formally launched by Bhaskar Sharma, the MLA for the 83rd Margherita Constituency who noted the transformative capability of digital tools for frontline workers. The mobile phones distribution took place at the Margherita Block Conference Hall on May 24.

This is a part of the initiative to digitally empower Anganwadi Workers in order to provide better services and improve data management. In highlighting the vision of the government to use technology to enhance public services, Sharma also recognized the importance of Anganwadi workers in fostering community development.

This program is a notable move for the state in furthering local engagement in child welfare and maternal health service delivery. The mobile phones are expected to optimize Anganwadi workers’ roles in this landscape and tasks.

The occasion also saw the presence of significant officials including MLA representative Dishen Tipomia, ICDS Project Officer Minati Rani Das and Block Coordinator Rupa Phukan. The workers thanked the government for the mobile phones calling it a very needed support that would alleviate their service delivery on a daily basis.

This endeavor is aligned with the Assam government and its commitment to digital inclusion and capacity building at the grassroots level, while also building on its recent efforts to modernise public service delivery across Assam.
