The result is a brutal cycle. Bad economic conditions fuel human suffering and escalating humanitarian needs strain fragile economies further. Understanding these crises is critical for shaping international responses.
Economic and humanitarian crises in 2025
1. Lebanon
This country in the Middle East is in a deep economic crisis. More than 1 million people in Lebanon are facing food insecurity, fuel shortages and lack of basic amenities amid a political paralysis. Lebanon needs to get out of this trouble soon.
2. Yemen
Economic collapse induced by fighting, increasing prices and falling currency – these are some of the top problems faced by Yemenis today. Nearly 80 percent of the population need humanitarian aid due to famine risk and health emergencies.
3. Venezuela
You can find prolonged recession, hyperinflation and infrastructure decay in Venezuela. Millions of people in the country are facing food insecurity, migration and health crises. It is time that global leaders come together to bring Venezuela out of this problem.
