Boeing took quiet steps to end work for 180 employees at its Engineering Technology Centre in Bengaluru, India because Boeing plans to cut staff across all its operations. The company’s workforce reduction in this period took place quietly before March 2025.
Sources who know about the matter say Boeing planned its staff cuts to prevent problems in services and government services. Our team made cuts to specific roles but also started establishing fresh positions within the organization. Boeing conducted fewer personnel reductions in Indian offices because they put product quality ahead of workforce reduction.
Despite its workforce reductions Boeing continues to have reliable operations in India. The company sources approximately $1.25 billion annually from India through more than 300 suppliers and employs around 7,000 people directly, with an additional 13,000 workers through supply chain partners. The Bengaluru Engineering Technology Centre which Boeing constructed as their biggest international United States project still operates advanced aerospace services. Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated this facility in January 2024.
As part of a major October 2024 job reduction plan Boeing must now send page 60 early notices to 17,000 workers who make up around 10% of their global workforce. The workers lost their positions starting November 1, 2024 at company sites in Washington, Missouri, California, and South Carolina.
