As part of a significant policy decision, the Bihar Cabinet led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has approved 41 major proposals on welfare, education and infrastructure, just before the impending assembly elections.

The cabinet has approved the establishment of the Bihar State Safai Karmachari Commission to safeguard the welfare and improve the socio-economic conditions of sanitation workers. These include
Monitoring workers’ welfare scheme.
Genome guidelines to the government on policy.
The commission will be made up of a chairperson, a vice- chairperson and five other commission members at least one woman or transgender person.
The commission will work for the integration of marginalized sections of sanitation workers through the recognition and protection of their rights, rehabilitation and access to benefits.
