There is a rising demand for professionals in this field, from artists to programmers, to designers, to audio engineers. There are many exciting job roles available that are not just about playing games but also creating them.

  • Game Designer

They are the architects of games and their work includes planning, and designing all the elements of the game. They plan the setting, rules, environment, story flow, levels, characters, vehicles, weapons, etc and everything else. Game designers visualise the game concept over which the overall game is going to be based on with the help of programmers, animators, producers, and audio engineers. Their work includes market research and leading the team by supervising the game development.

  • Game Programmer / Developer

Programmers are the ones who add fuel to the engine. They create technical codes that make the game concept run. They work with game artists, game designers, producers and sound technicians in order to see that everything is in sync. They test program codes, and fix the flaws in the game pointed by the other members of the team. Game development is a complex process and it requires large teams of programmers to create a good game.

  • Game Artist / Animator

Visual artists and animators give physical structure to the characters, objects, environment, and sceneries in the games. They provide minute details like skin textures of characters, glossy shine of roads after rains, shadows according to the source of the light. Their work is to take care of the motion sensors and look into the matter that characters jump, crouches, sits, stands and moves at the correct time. To be a visual artist you need to have a degree in animation, graphics, and illustration.
