For quite a long time, the United States has been the world’s biggest supplier of bilateral support in health. In the course of recent years, the United States has added around $5.21 billion aid into the Pacific Islands.

U.S. envoy to Fiji, Nauru, Kiribati, Tuvalu, and Tonga Joseph Cella visited the Colonial War Memorial (CWM) Hospital today to meet the people participating in training for the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and executed by the Pacific Community (SPC) to support Fijian clinical technicians and specialists operate the 30 ventilators provided by the U.S. government.

Ambassador Cella officially delivered a total of 50 brand new ventilators to Fiji, Kiribati, and Nauru in Aug, as President Trump gave directions to send aid to partners in the Pacific islands, Asia, and around the globe to battle the pandemic.

Around 30 ventilators are provided for hospitals in Fiji to support endeavors to forestall and alleviate the spread of the virus throughout Fiji.

These ventilators alongside various other U.S. government assistance in the area speak about our solid commitment as Pacific partners, neighbors, and associates to defeat coronavirus. We are very satisfied with the training to learn how to use the provided ventilators. We anticipate a more prosperous and sound future for all

Ambassador Cella

The ventilators expand on the U.S. government’s $24.2 million investment to support the Pacific Islands nations, to help hazard communications, the counteraction, and control of irresistible illnesses in health departments, coordination endeavors, and different activities to address this extraordinary health crisis.

The ventilators, made in the United States, utilize lifesaving, cutting edge, sought after technology. The ventilators are profoundly specialized medical equipment utilized in serious cases where a patient’s lungs stop working appropriately due to infection and require the support of oxygen.

However, the ventilators, USAID are financing a custom-fitted pack of help that incorporates clinical training for the technicians to efficiently use as well as maintain the ventilators.
