Step-by-Step: Applying for the UK Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) Before Feb 25

You need to ensure that you get your travel documents before 25 February in case you want to travel to the United Kingdom. The UK Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) system is fully active for eligible non-European nationals. Travelers in countries such as the United States, Canada and Australia since January 8, 2025 will be required to have a validated ETA to board a flight. European nationals are not capable of doing so until March 5, 2025, but those who are not Europeans must do so as soon as they travel. This travel guide explains the necessary actions that individuals with traveling plans need to secure in the nearest future to be able to enter the UK border smoothly.

Who Needs an ETA Before Feb 25?

The current UK travel requirements mandate that non-visa nationals from non-European countries possess an ETA. When you are a US citizen or Canadian citizen or even any other part of the world and your flight is prior to Feb 25, then you are already under this rule. European citizens have a grace period up to the time they can be admitted under the system on March 5, 2025.

How to Complete Your ETA Application

The application is a digital-only process that is speedy.

  • Install the Application: The most rapid processing is available through the use of the UK ETA app.
  • Scan Documents: Push the buttons and scan your passport and capture a photo.
  • Pay the Fee: The cost is £10.
  • Wait until approved: The majority of decisions are received in a period of three working days, yet the earlier an application is made the better.

Future Rollout Dates

For European travelers, the ETA application window opens March 5, 2025, for travel starting April 2, 2025. All eligibility groups will be enforced fully in February 2026.
