Royal Children’s Hospital Secures Funding to Save Cancer Center Jobs

The Royal Children’s Hospital made a major about-face by deciding to keep all 13 vacancies from the Children’s Cancer Centre which they had planned to close. The hospital works with the RCH Foundation to find permanent funding for its essential staff positions.

Soon after learning about possible job cuts both My Room Children’s Cancer Charity and Children’s Cancer Foundation expressed their distress about this development. Georgie Crozier as the Shadow Health Minister said the planned budget cuts were unacceptable because they came right before the Good Friday Appeal fundraising event.

The charity partners guide the Royal Children’s Hospital through their donations of support according to the hospital’s announcement.

Last year the RCH Foundation gave $61.2 million dollars to support patient care and hospital operations. The foundation plans to continue supplying its regular funding in 2025. The Good Friday Appeal keeps its promise in ongoing funding for art therapy which ensures better hospital finances.
