OpenAI Blocks Users from China, North Korea Over Malicious AI Usage
ChatGPT usage has stopped for Chinese and North Korean users because OpenAI discovered they exploited the AI tool illegally. The users’ activities were detected as they manufactured artificial news along with fabricated information.
Users from China published fabricated news articles about the United States through Spanish newspapers to make them appear as if they originated from Chinese corporations. North Korean users took advantage of ChatGPT to produce simulated job applications including profiles that fooled Western businesses into employing them. The Cambodian user group utilized ChatGPT to distribute deceptive X (formerly Twitter) and Facebook content.
The usage of ChatGPT continues to expand rapidly because 400 million users incorporate it weekly. The United States government expresses concern because Chinese government authorities might employ AI tools including ChatGPT to dominate their citizens and fabricate dishonest information about foreign countries.
OpenAI addresses the malicious usage of its technology through active development of protection measures to prevent destructive behavior. The organization maintains an effort to obtain $40 billion in funds for business independence alongside growth expansion.
