Maryland Speeds Up Hiring to Support Unemployed Federal Workers

Maryland Governor Wes Moore has announced a new plan to help federal workers who recently lost their jobs.

The state is speeding up the hiring process for four key government jobs:

  • Human Resources Officers
  • Procurement Officers
  • Accountants
  • Fiscal Accounts Technicians

Governor Moore said the goal is to support workers who have been affected by layoffs and to give them new chances to serve the state. “This new process will help us hire faster, support our people, and grow Maryland’s economy,” he said. “We are standing together, and we won’t leave anyone behind.”

The hiring process will now be easier. With just one application, federal workers can apply for jobs in different departments and locations. Applications will be reviewed quickly, and many may get interview calls in just a few weeks.

This effort is part of a larger plan by the Moore-Miller Administration. They’ve already created a special website with resources for laid-off federal workers. The website has already been visited more than 100,000 times.

Maryland has launched a new program to help former federal employees find teaching jobs. People can apply on the official website of the Maryland state government. Job applications will begin on May 2.
